I don’t know why, but I believed it from the start. Scientific researchers predicted the deterioration of oxygen in the earth’s atmosphere, and when it finally happened it sent the world into chaos. I had already air sealed my apartment with self sufficient oxygen generators and purchased my Atmo-suit, one of the best on the market. Those that didn’t believe the predictions were not so fortunate. When it finally happened, it happened quickly. People’s ability to breath was being ripped away from them, and anyone with respiratory problems met a swift end. People raced, gasping for air, to any Atmo retailer or air sealed bunkers they could as plants and vegetation withered and wrinkled to a suffocated mess around them. It was tragic, and devastating. Now I live here, in my sealed apartment, filling my suit’s oxygen tanks in anticipation of a quick venture to scavenge and return. I’ve seen others from a distance, people who evidently prepared in the same ways as me. But with only enough oxygen to survive for quick scavenging, making it to others, let alone finding where they are holed up, would be too much.
